PADUCAH, KY – Federal Materials Company recently received Third Place in Category C for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Excellence-in-Training Award for 2008. Category C represents companies that reported production less than 500,000 yards for 2007.
“The benefits of employee training raise the standard for the entire ready mixed concrete industry,” said Eileen Dickerson, managing director of education for the NRMCA.
The NRMCA annually recognizes ready mixed concrete producers’ participation in the NRMCA training and certification programs.
“We proudly utilize the programs offered by the NRMCA to better train our employees,” said Chris Bright, president of Federal Materials Company. “In today’s competitive environment, their development is essential for the sustainability and advancement of the ready mixed concrete industry.”

PADUCAH, KY – Federal Materials Company recently received the Annual Business of the Year Award presented by the Paducah Civic Beautification Board.
“This award was presented to five businesses that have made noticeable improvements that benefit our community,” said Flora Smith, President of the Civic Beautification Board.
“We decided to improve our landscape this past summer,” said Chris Bright, president of Federal Materials. “Our employees, summer interns and Lyles Landscaping all helped with our beautification project. We are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts.”
Other award recipients include Mentor House Gallery, Hotel Metropolitan, Edward Jones on Wayne Sullivan Drive and WKCTC.

PRINCETON, KY –Federal Materials Company recently donated concrete to Caldwell County Schools to replace existing concrete at the Butler Campus and to construct a sidewalk connecting the middle school and high school.
“We are pleased that Federal Materials selected our projects in Caldwell County,” said Caldwell County Facilities Director Larry Curling. “The new sidewalk will provide added safety as our students walk from the middle school to the high school. The renovated sidewalks at the Butler Campus will not only beautify the grounds, but will make our grounds safer and more accessible.”
These proposed projects were selected by Federal Materials Company as part of the company’s School Concrete Donation Program. Nineteen school districts were invited to participate in the program. Federal Materials Company donates up to 50 cubic yards of concrete for new construction or renovated project needs. Schools in Calloway County, Livingston County and Hickman County were also awarded concrete donations.
“We support economic development in 19 counties across western Kentucky and northwest Tennessee,” said Chris Bright, president of Federal Materials Company. “We want our donation efforts to support the educational systems in these counties. Whether constructing new sites, beautifying current areas of campus or completely renovating existing concrete, we hope to provide students with better access to all amenities of their campus.”

SMITHLAND, KY –Federal Materials Company recently donated concrete to Livingston County Schools to improve playground, dumpster and handicap accessibility areas.
“We are pleased that Federal Materials selected our projects in Livingston County,” said Livingston County School Superintendent Ken Bargo. “The new basketball court at South Elementary will accommodate more students and the new entrance at our middle school will provide safer accessibility into the main building. The trash dumpster area at the high school has an improved look and the new sidewalk connecting the North Elementary building with the playground will provide an alternative walkway for students and will decease hallway distractions.”

FMC Mixer Operators Nicole Richard, Mark King, Kenneth Stufflebeam and Daniel Wheeler received their ACI Level 1 Certification to test concrete for quality control, quality assurance and verification on construction job sites. John McChord, KRMCA Engineer, instructed the ACI Level 1 Class, held May 22 at FMC. Local engineers and contractors also participated in this all-day class that included classroom instruction and field testing.
FMC DONATES CONCRETE TO CALLOWAY CO HS
MURRAY, KY – The Federal Materials Company recently awarded Calloway County High School 50 cubic yards of concrete to complete handicap accessible restrooms and handicap accessible sidewalks leading to the Lakers baseball and softball fields.
“We are pleased that Federal Materials Company selected our project at Calloway County High School,” said Calloway County School Superintendent Steve Hoskins. “With handicap accessible ball fields, we hope to provide safety and convenience for all students, parents and members of the community who attend, play and support our athletic programs.”
